Here in northern Joisey, we’re bracing ourselves for a snowstorm tonight that may dump up to metre of snow on us. Since the local fashion is, as in Third World countries, to put the power cables aboveground, strung from pole to pole like telephone lines, the chances of a power outage are very far from negligible. If that happens, then my Wednesday Noirish post (Julius Sizzer [1931]) won’t be going up; fingers crossed that Saturday’s is safe.
Just to add to life’s joyfulness, I’m feeling lousy and have had to spend the day in bed. The big worry, of course, is that this might be flu. I don’t think so, but . . .
I’m supposed to be delivering my new book to its publisher by the end of next week. All of this stuff ain’t helping.
rest up. get well. snow is peaceful. (until the lights go out).
Thanks! In fact, the storm veered unexpectedly away and we’ve had just a few centimetres of snow rather than the anticipated up-to-a-metre. I gather NYC was lucky too, but that other parts of the northeast are getting major falls.
Of course, in this part of the world even a few centimetres can bring a power outage, but so far we’ve been lucky. Hm. I probably shouldn’t have said that . . .
Northern Jersey! I grew up there. Passaic, to be exact.
Passaic? That’s where we are!
Hopefully the worst doesn’t happen – good luck!

be patience and keep safe, John
Thanks! I’m still feeling vile today, but far better — so this wouldn’t seem to be the flu, thank goodness! As for the blizzard, well, you’ll have seen my response to earlier comments but here it is again:

Wishing you all the best, John. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks, Jacqui! I assume you seen my responses to earlier comments, so you’ll know that we’ve dodged a bullet: we’ve had some snow, but less in fact than we had in a fall last week — i.e., nothing really to get too worried about.
Keep safe!
Thanks, Jan! I assume you’ve seen earlier responses, but if not:
