o/t: translated crime fiction

The highly recommended blog Euro Crime has just published a list of the foreign crime novels published/to be published in English translation in the period June 2014 to May 2015. Most of the books are European (lots of Scandinoir), but countries like Japan, South Africa, Croatia and even Saudi Arabia are represented. A very useful checklist.

  1. Such a useful list, but there’s far too much temptation here! Nice to see Pascal Garnier and JP Manchette there, two of my favourites. Simenon’s The Mahe Circle also caught my eye.

    • Agree with you about the temptation! I am desperately trying to be good about book purchases at the moment, but . . .

Still not much sign of Pascal Garnier over here. I’m going to have to stock up next time we’re in Ye Olde Countrye. My daughter has promised us an Expotition next time we visit to an apparently paradisiacal bookshop called Skoob, near Euston Station, so that may be The Opportunity . . .

      • That sounds like a perfect opportunity to stock up! Skoob is great for secondhand books and remainders. If you get time, the new Foyles on Charing Cross Road is also worth a look (as is the LRB bookshop near Holborn, not too far from Skoob).

        • Oh, they’re all within walking distance of each other, then. I can see this being an outing that’s extremely bad for the bank balance . . . and perhaps for the excess baggage budget!
